Last Wednesday, Russell Anderson made a successful return to his former club by taking out the nine-hole Stableford event over the back nine.
Anderson's solid 25 points were just enough to win from Brendon McCarty (24) and Greg Watkins (22), while Robert Vise was closest on the short 12th.
A barbecue lunch will follow Wednesday's (December 15) final event. Richard Feuk has organised some special Christmas prizes. (Assembly by 8.30 am.)
Once again, a good field turned up for our second Friday evening event, and Louise Williams was unlucky to be beaten by the countback king in Richard Feuk, both on 21 points over the back nine.
Brendon McCarty once again missed out on the top prize by one shot; he and new vice-captain Lachlan Wilson both scored 20 points. Williams also won nearest-the-pin for her fine shot on 12.
Friday, December 17 will be our last event for the year, with a two-person Ambrose (any combination) and a barbecue following.
Organiser Lachlan Wilson expects to see a good turn-up; hit-off from 5.30pm to 6pm.
The course will remain open during the summer months with alternating nines, every three to four weeks. Hopefully, planned full-scale watering will take place once a few issues have been successfully sorted during the next few days.
Campaspe
A rather good touch of summer tested our golfers on Sunday, December 12, with more than a few coming in looking for a ‘coldie.’
Playing a challenging 4BBB multiplication Stableford, the winners were John and Lynne Canavan with an unbelievable 81 points, while a long way back was Denise and Paul Pappin with 54 points to be runners-up.
Nearest-the-pin (5th) went unclaimed again, while nearest-the-pin (7th) second shot went to Frank Broucek and the straightest drive on the 4th was Denise Pappin. Lucky card was John Oakley and David Marshall.
Next week will be the last competition round for 2021and the game will be a par-three Stableford, 18 holes, 11am hit-off. Our Christmas raffle will be drawn on the day.
The course will be maintained during the holiday break, so come for a game just to keep your eye in. We start up again, with competitions, on Sunday, January 16.
Enjoy the Christmas and new year holidays, and stay safe.
