Campaspe
Sunday, April 24:
It was another beautiful autumn Sunday on the Campaspe golf course.
Golfers played a Novelty Day with three clubs and a putter. The winner on a countback with a nett 76 was Ray Peake. Congratulations to Ray, who won a meal voucher from the Rochester Hotel.
John Canavan was runner-up, also with nett 76. Campaspe welcomed visitors from Ballarat, Shane and Michelle Callahan, who enjoyed their day.
Some of our members went to support the Bamawn Golf Club opening, and we hope all had a good day’s golf.
Thanks to the Bendigo Community Bank for awarding a grant to the Campaspe Golf Club to go towards the purchase of a stick rake.
Sunday, May 1:
Great weather and lush fairways welcomed players for a 4BBB. Ray Peake and his partner, Shane Bywaters, put on a display of golfing prowess to take out the top spot, with John Canavan and Paul Pappin close behind as runners-up. Shane took out NTP on the 7th and knocked off Laurie for the straightest drive. Next week is Yankee, any combination.
Bamawm
There was a good field for our first stroke round for the year and Privilege Cup.
Winner of the day and the cup with a great score of 90-25-65 was Shane Wolfe and runner-up Geoff Crossman 87-20-67.
NTP 7/16 — Jeff Carnie.

Next week will be a par round, hit off from 10:30am.
Rochester
Rachael and Justin Cleary were major sponsors of the club's fourball stableford event on Anzac Day.
Although the $2000 fuel card for a hole in one on 8 and 16 didn't go off, the husband-and-wife team of Chris and Louise Eeles played well to win with 42 points from Robert Vise and Peter Anderson (41), and Andrew Purdy and David Gebbie on 40, with Anderson nearest the pin on the 5th.
Robert Ralph had all guns blazing in last Wednesday's nine-hole event over the back-nine white course markers, Ralph's 39 off the stick for 22 stableford points in a strong field of 20 players easily won from Richard Feuk on a countback from Laurie Radley and Laurie Jackel, all on 19 points.
Julie Leahy was nearest-the-pin on the 5th, which helped her win the ladies’ par event last Friday, Kate Ward (3 and 5) and Sue Duguid (straight drive on 10) were also the next best and runners-up in the day's par event.
The best field for the 2022 season, 30 players including new member Ben Frazer, teed up in the club's Stableford Championship round, with the recent rain (20ml +) and some great work by the maintenance team ensuring the course was looking great, although playing long.
Wednesday's nine-hole specialist, Kevin McCormack, playing with Tim Quinlan, this time without the stress of pushing the buggy, shot his best round over the short course of 18 holes. McCormack's 38 points easily won the event from runner-up Bruce Major on a countback from Anthony Leddin, both on 35. Ball winners were Peter Anderson, Ben Frazer, Ross Lees and Dan Dockery, all on 31. Leigh Hicks won a ball for his second shot to the 9th, while Graham Willis was the best on 16 and hit the straightest on 10.
In Sunday pennant, Rochester played Kyneton at Kyneton. Unfortunately playing against a home club is always an uphill battle. Rochester went down 1/4, and Brendan McCarty (2/1) was the only winner, although the others were close games.
Next Saturday is the men's singles match play qualifying round with a stroke event over 18 holes and Monthly Medal, assembly 11.30am, hit-off from noon.
