New member Dan Dockery was the only player to finish at +1, Mark Walsh and Chris Eeeles were square with the card, Peter Anderson, Laurie Radley, Lachie Wilson, Shane Bywaters and Ian Pollard all won balls on -1.
Wilson (second shot to the Drummond 9th), visitor Colin Johnson (Willis family 16th) and Captain Des Gallagher's straightest drive on 10, were all ball winners.
Last Wednesday the ambrose team of Robert Vise, Kevin McCormack, Gary Charnas and late arrival Shane Wolfe cleaned up with 36-5 net 31, to win from the three-man team of Graeme Chapple, Brendan McCarty and David Gebbie 32.5. Robert Ralph was nearest to the pin on 12.
Last Friday the ladies played their first official event for the 2022 season, playing off the short course yellow markers. Karen Taylor's 32 stableford points won from her mother, Jenny Major (27), and Sue Duguid (26), Taylor was on fire to win nearest the pin on 3 and 16 as well as the straightest drive on 10.
A good field enjoyed our Anzac Day fourball event, all interest was to see if anyone was lucky enough to win the $2000 hole in one prize on 8 or 16, thanks to our major sponsor in Rachael and Justin Cleary from the Willow Cafe on High St.

On Sunday the club welcomed 30 pennant players, represented by Bendigo (blue and white), Axedale, Neangar Park, Belvoir Park and Castlemaine; all were impressed with the course layout and conditions, as well as the smooth running of the event.
Next Saturday, April 30, is the first round of our Stableford Championship event with assembly at 11.30am, hit-off at noon.
Lockington
Par was the name of the game at Lockington on Saturday and Terry Thomas was in excellent form, with a fine score of +3, clearly best on course.
Terry romped to victory in A-grade, with Grant Humbert (-2) next best, ahead of Ian Maddison and Kevin Humbert, both -4.
B-grade was super competitive, with Mark Lyons (-3) the winner, on a three-way countback from Barry Graham and Ron Dixon. Ian Haines, Andrew Glatte and Ray Brereton all finished -4 in a close finish.
Thanks to winning two of his last three holes, Tony Brooke won C-grade on a countback from Des Pentreath.
Nearest the pins: 7th – Ian Maddison; 2nd shot 12th – Kevin Humbert (A), Ian Haines (B); 2nd shot 18th for the six-pack smack – Jason Wakefield.
Spike’s Longest Drive on the 8th, sponsored by Hot ‘n’ Cold Plumbing – Grant Humbert (A), Allen Dennis (B) – great to see Allen out having a hit – Des Pentreath (C). Neither the Echuca CIH eagle’s nest on 3rd, nor Captain Bricka’s yardstick on the 16th was won.
The women played a stableford round last Friday, with victory to Helen Hayes after her solid round of 32 points, on a countback from Annette Brereton. Nearest-the-pin was Annette Brereton.

The club’s annual tournament is coming up soon, commencing on Thursday, May 19, with the Women’s 4BBB, followed by the Men’s 4BBB on Friday, May 20, the Mixed American on Saturday, May 21, and concluding with the Men’s 36 Holes Stroke Open Championship event on Sunday, May 22.
Bamawm
It was a cracking day of golf on Bamawm’s 2022 Opening Day.
The weather was beautiful and the course is really starting to take shape. We had an amazing turnout, with 42 golfers taking to the course and competing in an ambrose event.
Congratulations to Owen McPhee, Shane Wolfe, Geoff Crossman and David Winchcomb who won the day with a score of 54 7/8, runners up were Sam Newth, Jackie Newth and Andrew Palmer with 55 2/3.
