The Bombers had 24 more scoring shots than the visitors but had a poor return on the scoreboard for their efforts, totting up 23 behinds to go with their 11 goals.
Kyabram’s defence was superbly led again by key men Lachie Smith and Jason Morgan, who put the brakes on Seymour’s scoring avenues with top games.
Smith took 17 marks — 11 of which were contested — in a dazzling aerial display while 36-year-old marvel Morgan again successfully backed himself on his attacks on the ball in the air and at ground level.
Their influence, along with the following division and midfield dominance, provided the Kyabram forwards with chances to win the game.
Tom Holman again stood up as a key target, particularly in the second half, with four goals.
Classy youngster Anthony Depasquale was opportunistic again with three goals.
Key forward Brad Mangan made his long-awaited return and kicked Kyabram’s first goal. He took some trademark strong marks and will be benefit immensely from the hitout.
Zac Norris controlled the ruck all day and got great support from Zac Keogh, Kaine Herbert, Nic Denahy and the Dillon brothers, Josh and Sean, in the midfield while Billy McLay was prominent in the second half.
Josh Dillon had his best game for the season and was back to his busy best at the fall of the ball.
Versatile utility Aidan Robinson was also a fine contributor.
The one sour note for the Bombers was another hamstring injury to veteran Kayne Pettifer, which is likely to keep him sidelined long term.
Pettifer was making a return after being sidelined with the same injury for three games.
The Bombers had former Morrison Medallist Mick Mattingly return for the game and like Mangan he was returning from a year-plus break after ACL surgery. Now playing in the SANFL he has nominated Kyabram as his home club.
Big man Jake Reeves didn’t play but should return for this week’s blockbuster against Euroa.
Other players missing who have played seniors this season were goalkicking ace Kyle Mueller (foot), Billy Barnes (back) Mitch Gugliotti (hamstring), Brad Whitford (hamstring), Riley Ironside (hamstring), James Ross (hamstring) and Tom Burnett (shoulder).
Premiership player Hayden Gemmill, who has not played this season, is also recovering from a hamstring injury but is close to a return.
My best for Kyabram were: Lachlan Smith, Zac Keogh, Jason Morgan, Zac Norris, Tom Holman, Josh Dillon, Anthony Depasquale and Kaine Herbert.
• Kyabram reserves continued their unbeaten season with a solid win.
Mitch Dodos juggled playing with the both thirds and reserves, kicking six goals in a dominant aerial display.
He was able to capitalise on the efforts of Ryan Hatch, who produced an attacking game off a back flank, skipper Will Wild, who played at both ends of the ground, and onballers in Kaleb Williams and Blake McAuliffe who won the ball consistently.
Ruckman Mitch Fitzgerald played tirelessly again and Ethan Palma-Ludeman, who kicked two goals, presented at every opportunity along with big man Brendan Brasier.
Kyabram has another top six side in Euroa to contend with this Saturday.
• Kyabram thirds bounced back from a one-point loss the previous week to notch a 102-point win.
Kyabram bombarded the goals at the start to set up a 32-point lead by quarter time and built on that winning margin as the game progressed.
Mitch Dodos again provided a reliable aerial target up forward with five goals and skipper and onballer Liam Francis again led from the front with a strong game.
Oliver White with three goals and Tom Bruhn, Bailey White and Riley Gallivan, each with two goals, were also able to apply scoreboard pressure.
Darcy Backway and Cooper Fawcett also won a lot of the ball for the Bombers.
Coach Peter Ryan was also happy with the efforts of Charlie Mason, Riley Gallivan and Reuben Stanger.
• Kyabram’s Under 16s put a heavy loss behind them to score a 42-point win.
Classy onballer Nic Jephson returned and led the way with three goals while Sam Marland also chipped in with three majors.
Other key playmakers were Declan Hallett, Tyler Norman and Lachlan Carver while Shaun Doolan and Max Carroll until injured put in top games.
