Nelson credited the win to her side’s impeccable start to the contest and its quick transition style of play.
“We knew we had to start strong and we knew we had to come out firing,” she said.
“We had a good lead at quarter-time, I just forget what the margin was but we were in front by a few goals. I felt that we were really comfortable after that and in control of the match.
“We were able to play our fast ball movement style and that’s when we are at our best.”
In the remaining round 14 netball contests, Stanhope pulled off a remarkable victory over Merrigum.
On the road, the Lions defied the odds and dealt the sixth-placed Bulldogs a 37-34 defeat.
It was a memorable win for the Lions, one that boosts their chances of playing finals next month.
Lastly, Murchison-Toolamba chalked up a comfortable win over Rushworth.
The Grasshoppers were far too strong for Rushworth and ran out 64-24 winners.
