The Cats welcomed back former Best and Fairest winner Tim McKenzie, and Patrick Waugh made his debut.
The visitors began well with three majors for the opening term.
Harrison Kerr presented well and posted two for the term, and McKenzie celebrated his return with one on the run from 50m.
The home side was up for the challenge, registering four goals for the quarter to take a seven point lead at the first break.
Paul Massingham kicked the Cats’ only major for the second term from a copybook front and centre gather off the pack.
From this point, the game was taken from the their grasp.
Six goals to the Blues saw them skip out to a 37 point lead.
The structure of the backline was disrupted when number one defender William Robertson suffered a shoulder injury and could take no further part in the game.
This activated the sub Jordan Sykes into the game.
Archie Mason continued his consistent form controlling the wing position.
Tim Robertson, Charlie Ford and Angus Robertson all tried hard in defence, repelling many attacking moves.
Lachy Hawkins continues to carry the ruck position and controlled the tap outs but the Cats could not find a consistent avenue to goal from half forward.
Numurkah controlled the second half and ran out 41 point victors.
Final score: Finley 7.7 (49) def by Numurkah 13.12 (90).
After a rocky month of football, Finley’s thirds had one goal on Saturday - team first.
It was about what you could do for your teammate and what you could do to improve the team.
Numurkah were a couple short, so some of the Cats rotated each quarter to ensure there was a strong 18 verses 18 game.
The first quarter saw Jake Orro kick two goals, and Lenny Dattoli one.
Patrick Waugh was given his chance up forward in the second quarter quarter as Lenny had a different role at centre half back. He had four intercept marks and multiple possessions to show he can play at both ends of the ground.
Liam Rafferty and Harvey Sneddon snared goals as Shane Chellew gave his opponent nothing all day.
Lenny was moved forward five minutes into the third and showed he had learnt plenty in his short back line stint, kicking two as Nathan Brown slotted his second career goal.
Matt Whelan was enjoying Liam’s precise ruckwork as Cruz Nash, Kohan Joseph and Jordan Sykes were collecting possessions at will.
The last quarter saw some free flowing football and both sides looked to be enjoying their day.
Lenny kicked another three goals to finish with six, as Jonty King was able to kick truly from long range.
