Rochester young gun suffers fractured leg

By Brayden May

ROCHESTER young gun Lewis Cleary is set to undergo surgery this afternoon on his fractured leg suffered during Saturday's Goulburn Murray Cricket C grade clash with Stanhope.

Cleary was taken to hospital in Shepparton on Saturday afternoon with fractures to his fibula and tibia after colliding with a teammate - who fell across his leg - as he attempted to take a catch.

Play was immediately stopped as players from both sides attended to Cleary, before it was agreed to declare the game a draw.

Lewis' father Justin said his son was in good spirits despite the injury.

"We're really thankful for the support both teams showed Lewis," he said.

"It's unfortunate this has happened because he was playing some good cricket.

"The doctors have already said he will make a full recovery and I'm sure he will be down supporting his teammates whenever he can."
