In what could be described as a fairytale, the club won the Goulburn Murray Cricket A grade premiership in its debut season following the merger between Rochester United and Rochester Tigers.
While there will be several fresh faces in the line-up this season, key pieces of that premiership side still remain with the title defence starting on Saturday.
One of those players is last season's grand final MVP Dylan Cuttriss who said consistency will be key to Rochester's hopes for the 2019-20 season.
“The season has come around really quickly and we're excited to get started,” Cuttriss said.
“We've had a solid start to pre-season despite a few guys having played footy deep into finals.
“We might look at changing some positions around at the start of the year to help find the right balance but we're confident with the team we've put together.
“It will be important to get wins on the board straight away because it will allow us to build some momentum.”
Rochester will open its season against Echuca at Victoria Park on Saturday in a one-dayer and Cuttriss said the team would enter the game with an open mind.
“It's very hard to try and get a read on opposition teams before a ball has been bowled,” he said.
“I think it will be important for us to focus on ourselves and make sure we get everything right.
“Echuca made the finals last year so there is no doubt they have quality in their line-up. The first few overs will set the tone for the rest of the day.”
Rochester's first five games of the season will be one-dayers before their first two-day game against Echuca South starting on November 9.
