A new, larger shed, new turnout rooms and facilities for members with disabilities were part of the $340,000 project between the brigade, the CFA and the Victorian Government.
The new shed will mean the brigade can wave goodbye to backing trucks in and can also train during inclement weather.
“We’re very pleased to see this complete. It’s been a three-year project and a huge effort from a lot of people,” Avenel CFA captain David Keamy said.
“I want to thank the state government and the CFA for seeing the need for the upgrade and chipping in a lot of money towards the cost.
“And I owe a huge thanks to our members and the community who have helped the brigade raise $175,000 towards the project.”
