Teamwork makes the dream work

As a journalist, I like to think I have a few more cynical bones in my body than the average punter.

It’s why I can’t quite take their increasingly amicable partnership at 100 per cent face-value.

Don’t get me wrong, as a parent it’s absolutely amazing to see them getting along, playing blocks together, laughing with each other — often at my expense — and dancing the night away to avoid bedtime like seasoned professionals.

They even shopped effectively — if not efficiently — together with my wife Grace on the weekend.

But I can’t shake the feeling that this newfound respect for each other will quickly lead to them conspiring against me en-masse.

Bonnie has reached a communicative level where she can demand Eden’s help with sneaking better snacks, and Eden is well aware of her younger sister’s powers of distraction when she’s up to something.

No longer will I be able to divide and conquer the duo — their continued teamwork will present a united front in battles yet to be won and lost.

I can see myself conceding defeat in plenty of future tickle fights.
