The Resource Recovery Centre for general waste has increased from $40 in the previous financial year to $43 this financial year.
Campaspe Shire chief executive officer Tim Tamlin said the increase was due to outside factors.
“Given the increase in external factors, for instance, the landfill rate increasing by 12.78 per cent, the transport rate increasing by 21.01 per cent, plus all the other costs that go into managing the Resource Recovery Centres, council is pleased to have restricted the increase in fee to $3,” he said.
Vouchers that have been sent to rate payers are valid from August 1, 2022 until August 1, 2023.
Vouchers can be used for all materials able to be diverted from landfill and recycled, that otherwise attract a fee.
These materials include garden waste; mattresses; couches/armchairs; tyres; refrigerators and air conditioners (degassing charge); concrete and bricks (Echuca and Mt Scobie only); clean fill soil (Echuca only); and gas bottles up to 9kg and fire extinguishers.
Council said many items were always accepted free of charge, including: bottles and cans; e-waste; cardboard and paper; scrap metal; batteries (car and household); drumMUSTER drums; whitegoods (excluding fridges and air conditioners); polystyrene and soft plastic (Echuca and Mt Scobie only); clothes (Echuca and Mt Scobie only).
One voucher has a total value of $43.
