Service your heater before winter, says CFA

A CFA spokesperson for the North West Region advised residents to ensure wood and gas heaters were regularly cleaned, including flues and chimneys, so there was less flammable material.

They also said to use a torch to check for creosote build-up and other obstructions such as bird nests.

A certified technician should also be employed to professionally service heaters every year, the spokesperson said.
