“Kyabram: more than you imagine” is the catchy phrase that will most likely be adopted as the base on which the Kyabram Tomorrow organisation, in tandem with the Chamber of Commerce, re-invigorates the profile of the town.
The final decision on the logo has not yet been made by the development and business community leaders, while final touches are now being made to the development of the website.
All three new additions to the town’s promotional material are expected to be locked in some time during September, well before the flagship promotional event of Kyabram Tomorrow — its Tastes and Tunes festival.
In spite of debate currently doing the rounds there is no plan to have a sportsperson, or any individual, on the signage entering the town.
Suggestions that Brett Deledio (Richmond/GWS footballer), high-profile media identity and former Melbourne captain Garry Lyon or Richmond premiership hero Dick Clay could feature on signage have not yet been discussed.
The attachment of a name to the signage has been ruled out, for now, as the process of erecting new signage at the entry points of the town is quite complicated — and, according to Kyabram Tomorrow chair Tanya Chiswell, will not be complete any time soon.
She said the group had settled on two designs from which the final selection will be made.
“We are planning to have the slogan, logo and website launched well before Taste and Tunes (October 22),” Ms Chiswell said.
She said the group was “a little nervous’’ that the fast-approaching food and music festival would be bigger than originally planned.
“While we won’t have the town entry signs up in time, hopefully we will have some pull up signs to use with the new logo,” she said.
A submission has been made to the Campaspe Shire for the erection of new signage.
“Because it is a capital works item it may not happen straight away,” Ms Chiswell said.
“It must be compliant and adhere to VicRoads regulations, along with those of council. We can’t just whack up new signs.”
Kyabram-based Empire Signs will be responsible for developing the new signage, which has been designed by Shepparton-based graphic design company So Creative.
The company, operated by Steph Boyle and Olivia Evans-Smith, is responsible for designing the logo and website.
“There are a couple of websites out there that are out of date,” Ms Chiswell said.
“We plan to have a calendar of events attached to the new site, along with links to schools, businesses, the fauna park and other attractions.
“We have worked closely with Olivia, who has been great to deal with and has been working on this for more than six months.”
