The latest emergency response times show the CFA crew responded to 11 ‘‘hazard class three’’ incidents within eight minutes 100 per cent of the time between January 1 and March 31, 2020.
It took seven minutes and 22 seconds for crews to reach 100 per cent of emergency incidents, according to the CFA figures.
This was an improvement on their times from the last quarter, where the team was able to respond within 20 minutes 85 per cent of the time.
Rochester CFA captain Luke Warren said he was pleased with these numbers.
“Considering it's the hottest part of summer and a very busy time for not only us here but also interstate, it was a great achievement,” he said.
“We had a few people away and others doing strike teams and various other roles, but we still managed to serve the Rochester community 100 per cent of the time.
“As captain I'm incredibly proud of the work we do and it's great the community understands the concept of fire prevention, so we're thankful for everyone in Rochester as well."
During this time, the crew attended a number of call-outs, including a large hay bale fire in Nanneella in early March where the fire fighters helped save 200 bales from being lost.
And with summer edging closer, Mr Warren said the team would be keeping an eye out for these types of fires.
“At the start of hay season, there could be some produce that hasn't cured properly, which could lead to them spontaneously combusting,” he said.
“There's also a lot of growth along the roadsides and the crops are quite high, so there is potentially a lot of fuel load coming into summer.
“And obviously we're uncertain as to what the weather is going to bring; we have predictions, but as far as that goes we can't control that.”
While the Rochy CFA has 58 members in its ranks, Mr Warren said he would welcome more when the team is able to take them.
“Because of COVID-19, we're not actually able to bring in new members, but if anyone is interested they are able to inquire,” he said.
