The Campaspe Academy of Sport is designed to assist and extend the development of students within different sporting streams.
Students receive additional coaching in performance, skill development, fitness, nutrition and more.
“We are extremely excited to again have the Community Bank on board as a partner to allow our school to offer a unique program that benefits the students from across the district,” Rochester Secondary College principal Melissa Gould said.
“Students are certainly engaged in the program ... and we see this as one of the real success stories for our school.”
Funding for this program allows for out-of-school-hours activities, as well as bringing in specialised coaches.
“Being able to offer students of our district specialised coaching — that happens in many metro areas — is helping to bridge the gap,” Lockmore Financial Services director Beck Crawford said.
“We are proud of Rochester Secondary College and how they have created this niche for the good of our students."
Program directors Leigh Millard and Liam Ringin said there was excitement in the different aspects to the program.
“The program has been focusing on aerobic fitness in term one, term two will see specialised coaches, as well as Ari Perera from Human Mechanics focusing on biomechanically specific movements, and term four consolidates the year's work,” Leigh said.
Sixty-one students have been selected to participate in the CAS program for 2020. Ranging from year seven to year 10, residing in Elmore, Rochester, Lockington and Colbinabbin, from football, netball and basketball.
“The Community Bank has been exceptional since day one” RSC assistant principal Chris Sanders said.
“They have organised for specialised coaches to come and take sessions, have engaged our school community as an entirety and shared knowledge that is seeing us continually improving our program.
“We are absolutely thrilled with their involvement for the betterment of the students. I would also like to thank the community for its ongoing support, which greatly assists in the success of our academy.”
And the bank could not be happier to assist.
“It’s simple. The more our customers bank with us, the more our Community Bank company can invest in our local communities,” Community Bank branch manager Alex Roasia said.
“This is our demonstration of being able to invest in our communities today through great strategic partnerships that benefit all involved.
“When it is time to renew your insurance or you receive a home loan or super statement then come and give us the opportunity to assist you.”
In the past 16 years, the Community Bank has returned $1.7 million back to the local communities.
