The vandals appear to have gained entry to the property through a bathroom or side window to the house.
Residents who live near the eight-hectare property say they have been picking up beer cans and monitoring the situation, which has only worsened.
“Why someone would do this is beyond me — I don't know anyone who would think this is a good idea,” a concerned resident said.
“We've been trying to get something done about this place for years and still nothing has happened.”
Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh replied to news that day.
“I'm angry the government is taking so long to put the property on the market,” he said.
“It's totally unacceptable the house isn't being maintained appropriately and I will personally raise the matter again with the minister.”
Mr Walsh said he was told the sale of the 1860s house was "imminent" in July this year, but to no avail.
Mr Walsh said he received a letter from Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Luke Donnellan around that time saying the Department of Human Services was preparing the property for sale and will be finalized "shortly" for market.
