The Tigers travel to take on Benalla this weekend in a do-or-die game for both sides with the winner set to take one of the final positions inside the Goulburn Valley League top six.
And Rochester coach James Flaherty said his side was embracing the finals-like pressure.
"We're in a fortunate position to still be playing for something at this time of year," he said.
"But most importantly we've been building momentum in the last few weeks. It would be a great achievement considering we started the year with four straight losses."
Rochester bounced back into the top six on Saturday following a dominant 95-point thrashing of Shepparton United on Saturday.
"Our fate has been in our hands the past few weeks and we've continued to respond," Flaherty said.
"I'm just asking for one more big effort."
Benalla got the better of Rochester earlier in the season by 65 points, but Flaherty said his side took away plenty of lessons from their round seven meeting.
"We will have plans in place to limit their strengths," he said.
"They're a very good football side who can score quickly when they have got their tails up.
"Some training will be based around their game style but we still need to be focusing on ourselves more than them."
If Rochester's seniors do qualify for the finals series, they will join the club's reserves and under 18s who have already booked their place.
"Every club wants to have as many teams playing finals as possible," Flaherty said.
"If we can have all three sides in there, it will give the club a massive boost heading into next year."
