The woman, in her 40s, was driving her Ford Focus with her daughter as a passenger when they were hit by a HiLux driven by a man from Romsey.
A police spokesman who attended the scene said the woman had declined an ambulance at the time of the crash.
“She had a bruised arm from the seat belt, and said her neck had been a bit sore but assured us she was OK,” the spokesman said.
“We offered to get an ambulance but she insisted she was fine,” he said.
“Later that day she presented at Rochester-Elmore District Health Service and was sent to Echuca hospital where the full extent of her neck injury was confirmed.
“She was then sent to Melbourne.”
Her teenage daughter was not hurt in the crash, nor was the other driver.
However, he received an infringement notice for failing to give way.
The accident happened on Campaspe St near the bridge across the river.
