Walking is a great way to get to know Echuca-Moama — enjoy the winding rivers and spot some wildlife. Try one of these great walking routes on their own or link them up and walk to your heart’s content.
Scenic Drive

Distance: 6km return
This loop leads you away from the bustle of town and into the bush along both the Murray and Campaspe rivers.
Start at the Victoria Park boat ramp and keep the Murray River on your right, following the dirt track around to the junction of the rivers and continue following the Campaspe River back to Victoria Park Oval.
The route is a great way to see the new Echuca-Moama Dungala Bridge, completed in April 2022, and take some time to enjoy the junction of the two rivers, about halfway through the walk.
Campaspe Esplanade
Distance: 6km return
Setting off from Lions Park, this walk along the Campaspe River is a popular, sealed track with several crossing points into Echuca’s main shopping and hospitality precinct.
Follow the trail through natural bushland with the river to your right until the path ends at the Warren St bridge.
At this point there’s a few options — turn around and retrace the path you’ve just walked or cross over the bridge and walk back along the other side of the river to the Anstruther St bridge.
Otherwise, turn left on Warren St and follow the shared path towards Echuca’s west or turn right at the roundabout and discover the new bridges over the Campaspe and Murray rivers.
Banyule State Forest
Distance: 6km return
Step off the beaten track and into bushland, setting off from the Echuca Visitor Centre and under the original Echuca-Moama bridge.
There’s a network of tracks to take but keeping the Murray River to your left will see you loop around to Pakenham St, which takes you back into town.
Moama Beach
Distance: 3km return
Starting at the car park near Moama’s Kerrabee Soundshell, follow the dirt path for about 10 minutes down to Moama Beach.
With a sandy beach, barbecue facilities and grassy picnic spots, the beach is a great spot to stop and take in the sights beneath the bridge.
To view the Echuca Wharf over the river and possibly find a historic paddle-steamer up for repairs, retrace the path to Blair St and take a left turn at the sign to the Moama Slipway.
Return along Blair St back to the Kerrabee Soundshell.
Horseshoe Lagoon
Distance: 1km return
Moama’s Horseshoe Lagoon is a haven for wildlife on land and in the water so keep your eye out as you walk.
Parking is available in Shaw St with boardwalks leading through quiet bush to the Murray River.
