A new Waste Management Team has been busy reviewing waste operations and identifying areas that can be improved in the Murray River region.
The team, created in 2019 by Murray River Council, has also been finding new ways to better manage the various waste streams by planning for the implementation of changes to current operations, as well as preparing for a new long-term waste strategy.
Some of the projects it has been investigating include harmonising services, standardised bin sizes, a three-bin collection service, landfill and transfer station upgrades, and bin collection days.
The team has also been examining options of further reducing volumes of waste that go to landfill.
Council hopes to introduce service changes in coming months.
