Australian owned Macro Group Australia is recruiting the district’s best harvester in its pursuit to continue providing quality products to the nation.
Established in 1987, it is now the world’s largest retail distributor of Australian kangaroo and wild game meat.
It wants to establish a chiller in Deniliquin and appoint a manager to run its local operations.
MGA is the exclusive supplier to Australia’s supermarket chains and a major exporter.
It had previously sourced its products from the Deniliquin district and wants to re-establish connections in the area.
‘‘We have an extensive supply network throughout NSW and previously had supply in Deniliquin and surrounding areas,’’ MGA national sales manager Clayton Graham said.
‘‘The K-Roo brand exclusively supplies Woolworths, Coles and Independents and the range is growing in popularity.
‘‘The food service brand, Paroo Premium Kangaroo has just been announced as a national finalist in the delicious awards, which recognises the best food service suppliers in Australia, so there has been tremendous interest there too.
‘‘Our Karmine Leather brand is also becoming more popular, and we also have online pet treats (petsnacks.com.au), so the demand is high.’’
The company sets a high standard for its products and offers a generous commission on all carcasses as well as $1.20 per kilogram for all kangaroos the operator harvests.
Mr Graham is seeking expressions of interest for the manager’s position as well as suggestions on a Deniliquin chiller site location.
He said MGA is only looking for the best in the industry that will uphold the high expectations and quality products it produces.
‘‘The harvester needs to be fully accredited through National Parks and Food Authority NSW,’’ he said.
‘‘We are looking for someone who wants to be the best harvester in the region, producing high quality carcasses, having an animal welfare focus, delivering consistent numbers with excellent hygiene, and strong communication with landowners and our company.
‘‘Due to our high standards we also have benefits to suit, as we’re currently paying the highest price in the country for carcasses.’’
MGA is offering local farmers who want their kangaroo population professionally managed by a local harvester to phone Clayton Graham on (08) 8341 2533.
‘‘Not only will landowners have someone helping to manage kangaroo populations, they can feel comfortable nothing goes to waste and they’re contributing to the local economy as well as being part of a 100 per cent Australian owned and operated company.’’
