It is just one of the emotions players and supporters experience throughout a season.
Rochester’s A grade netballers got exactly that feeling on Saturday as they played out a 37-all draw with Kyabram in Goulburn Valley league action.
But in the end, it proved to be a mental boost for the Tigerettes as they defied a eight goal half-time deficit to earn a share of the points.
‘‘We were a lot calmer in the second half,’’ coach Linda Rasmussen said.
‘‘In the first half we didn’t cope very well with the pressure from Kyabram.
‘‘The girls started to worry about themselves more and it showed.
‘‘I’m really proud of how they worked their way back into the game.’’
It was on the defensive end where things lifted in the second half, as the Tigerettes forced the visitors into more mistakes.
As the pressure gauge rose, so did the impact on the scoreboard as the Bombers were lifted to just 13 goals in the second half.
‘‘In the second half it became about which defence was going to come out on top,’’ Rasmussen said.
‘‘For their goal attack to have just a single goal in the third quarter was outstanding.
‘‘Whether it was in the attacking third or defensive third, our pressure was great.
‘‘We need to be producing that over four quarters.’’
After performing admirably in the opening weeks of the season, the Tigerettes are now ready to surprise other teams in the competition.
They will get the chance to strut their stuff against Tatura on their next outing.
‘‘We’ve shown we can mix it with the best Goulburn Valley teams,’’ Rasmussen explained.
‘‘There is an extremely happy vibe among our group.
‘‘I believe you play your best netball when everyone is happy.
‘‘We have a real strong belief in our ability this season.’’
