Rochester Golf Club members competed in the first round of the Goulburn Valley District Golf Association summer four-ball pennant at Rich River Golf Club on Sunday.
James Walsh and partner Jake Wright won three and two games, as did the duo of Peter Anderson and Richard Feuk.
Frank Severino and Steven Malley also won three and two matches.
The teams of Graham Willis and Bruce Bryant, and Jason Cartlidge and Nathan Marrone both lost their matches which meant that the team was only just successful in winning three and two overall.
The next match is to be played next Sunday at Numurkah Golf Club where Rochester will take on Mooroopna.
Those interested in playing for the club should contact captain Feuk for more information.

It is a nice change to be entering different names in the results this week. The wheels fell off Frank’s buggy.
Dick Henderson was this week’s winner with a nett 34.5 with Shane Wolfe named runner-up with a nett 36.
Shane was also nearest the pin on the seventh, while Wayne Robinson scored the straightest drive on the ninth and Dick’s putter was best on line with 12 putts.
The niners officially started back yesterday morning, here’s to another strong season.
Wednesday’s ladies saw Florrie Bickley came home with a nett 35 and the least putts of 11.
Faye Latter played a good round to be runner-up on nett 40. Her ambition is to break her handicap, maybe a New Year’s resolution?
The ladies start back tomorrow at 9am.
The winner of the club’s Christmas Hamper was Laurie Brown from Lockwood South.
After slight logistical issues in transporting said ham became apparent, the club was relieved to discover Brown has strong connections to Rochester and was visiting the next day.
