Rochester Community House organisers have said they were blown away with the showing of locals at last month’s market.
So much so, the market will be having a month off for organisers and stall holders to recuperate.
‘‘We’re not having a market this month as it falls on Australia Day and people from the Community House as well as stall holders are taking a break,’’ Rochester Community house co-ordinator Amanda Logie said.
‘‘The twilight market was a massive success — the stall holders and shops which stayed open had a great night.
‘‘The Criterion still had people ordering meals at 8.15pm and there were still people in the bakery right up until 9pm.’’
With 200 lolly bags made up for the event, Amanda said they were quick to disappear — and there weren’t too many double-dipping.
‘‘If you go by how many children there were running around, I would estimate about 1000 people were there on the night,’’ she said.
The committee will begin planning this year’s event in the coming month to secure more activities before the busy season.
‘‘We’re hoping to have more kids entertainment and that’s something I’m going to have to be booking soon,’’ she said.
‘‘But we’d like to thank Campaspe Shire, the Rochester Business Network and also Saputo for allowing us to use their carpark.
‘‘And of course, thanks to all of our stall holders, businesses and volunteers who helped out — on the night we needed a few extra people and it was greatly appreciated that people helped out.’’
