About $50,000 was handed out to organisations in the district in the fifth round of the program that has been running since July 2016.
Brad Drust, chair of Lockmore Financial Services, congratulated Cori Holmberg and Graeme Wood, who announced their retirement from the Lockmore Financial Services Board of directors after 15 years of service.
“What an amazing legacy Cori and Graeme have left their communities,’’ Mr Drust said.
He also announced the successful applicants of the grants program at the annual general meeting.
The grants program, which is open to all groups in the Rochester, Elmore and Lockington districts, has been helping locals get their ideas and events off the ground.
“We are very excited to be providing support to some terrific local programs, projects and events. Our support is made possible by the customers of the Elmore/Lockington/Rochester Community Bank who choose to bank with us,” Mr Drust said.
‘‘Sponsorship has been provided for big ideas developing our communities alongside the small events that continue to be the fabric of our hard-working communities.’’
Mr Drust said congratulations must go to Lockington Community Care Committee for their vision to expand Traveller’s Rest.
“It is such an impressive project — the committee has put this $50,000-plus project together and we are able to assist with $19,000 for the new amenities blocks,” he said.
‘‘Offering more powered sites at Traveller’s Rest will help bring more visitors to town and in turn mean more business for local shops.’’
This round saw 18 recipients awarded Community Bank sponsorship funds including Lockington Public Hall Committee receiving $6000 for a kitchen upgrade, Rochester Primary School receiving $10,000 to upgrade their basketball and netball court and Elmore Primary School receiving $1522 for a new roof for their hot house. Elsewhere, Nanneella Playgroup received funding for new safety equipment for their playground, Strathallan Glider Sanctuary will build a new glider training enclosure, Elmore Bowls Club will replace a water fountain and the Lockington CFA will get support for their men’s health night.
Senior branch manager Tracie Kyne supported the announcement.
“This is our demonstration of being able to invest in our communities today and we thank those who bank with us today,” she said.
