Darren McLoughlin has spent several days in Sydney playing in the Victorian state team’s gold medal championship.
McLoughlin finished third place and was awarded the bronze medal. His team, the Victorian state team then went on to win the interstate shield for 2018.
The croquet club extends congratulations to Darren.
There were 14 players at croquet on Sunday. Two players won their three games with Dot Murphy winning the day with 25 hoops followed by Andy Davis with 23.
Three players won two games for the day. Marg Telford and Colin Campbell both scored 21 and Heather Douglas had 20 hoops.
Two players had successful jump shots. Andy Davis had three and Allan Tonta had one.
Colin Campbell had a great hoop-in-one and Mary James won shot of the day with a terrific ‘in-off’ shot.
The Diamonds had their first loss for the year in the GVCA Pennant competition. However it was a very close game with Rich River Kangas on 6 games 71 hoops to the Diamonds’ 6 games 66 hoops.
The Echuca/Moama club is all set to come and play here this Sunday. They are very keen with 15 players coming at 9.30am for 10am start.
The club certainly hopes there will be a good roll-up of local players to ensure an enjoyable day for everyone.
Echuca is organising a trophy for the winning team this Sunday, and when we return to Echuca.
A sausage sizzle and salads will be on after the first two games.
There was a terrific roll-up for croquet on Wednesday morning.
There were 24 players, including Judy and Ken Merritt from Eaglehawk who were warmly welcomed by the club.
There were three three game winners for the day. John James had 27, Andy Davis 25 and Marg Telford 23.
Six players won two games. Darren McLoughlin had 23, Helen Moye and Allan Tonta each had 22 and Dee Crotty, Dors Peterson and Lorraine Honeyman all scored 20 hoops.
Successful jumps were everywhere with Andy Davis and John James both with four each, Allan Tonta three and Darren McLoughlin two.
Dors Peterson and Allan Tonta both had two hoops-in-one in the last game.
