A PARKED car has prevented major damage to an Elmore house after an out-of-control vehicle careered through the front yard.
The accident occured at a house in the main street of Elmore, just before the turn-off to Shepparton near the BP service station.
A Ford Falcon was heading north on the Midland Hwy when it veered to the right, entering the front yard of a residence and continuing on into the neighbouring property.
The Falcon crashed into a Mitsubishi Magna parked in the front yard before coming to a halt.
The owner of the Magna was in the house at the time.
The driver of the Falcon, a man aged in his 80s, had to be helped out of the vehicle by the SES.
The driver was taken to Bendigo Hospital for assessment.
Both vehicles were written off and police are investigating the cause of the accident.
Police, SES and ambulance crews attended the scene.
