Hinch names pedophile cop for 'closure'

September 13, 2017

Derryn Hinch has used parliamentary privilege to name a former pedophile police officer.

Victorian Senator Derryn Hinch has named and shamed a former pedophile police officer under parliamentary privilege in the hope it brings closure to victims.

The convicted offender who worked for the force in the 1960s and 1970s and abused nine children aged as young as five, is in jail for his crimes, his identity suppressed by the courts to protect his victims.

"I hope that naming him will bring some closure for some of his victims," Senator Hinch said during a speech in parliament on Tuesday night.
