DRIVERS were lucky to escape without serious injuries after three cars and three trucks collided on Webb Rd, Fairy Dell near Nanneella at 8am.
Police said the crash occurred after a car slowed down over a channel bridge because of thick fog and smoke from a burn-off the night before.
The vehicle then allegedly ricocheted off the bridge, causing the six-vehicle pile-up.
The three truck drivers were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The other drivers escaped unscathed, the second and third cars in the collision driving off with only minor damage.
Sergeant Neil Hodson from Echuca police said it was lucky there weren't serious injuries.
"Visibility was down to zero. Police members who got here first said they couldn't even see where the crash was," he said.
Sergeant Hodson warned drivers to be cautious when driving in low visibility.
"When visibility is down to a minimum, slow right down and put the headlights on," he said.
The section of Webb Rd, between Christie Rd and Murdoch Rd, will remain closed while vehicles are cleared and engineers check if the bridge is structurally sound.
