THERE’S plenty happening at Rochester Community House to celebrate Neighbourhood House Week 2018.

A morning tea will be held today for new residents to town. Invitations were sent to new residents who purchased a house through FP Nevins or Ray White Real Estate over the past 12 months.

Anyone else new to town is encouraged to come along.

Community House coordinator Amanda Logie said the aim of the day was to showcase the Rochester and district community to new people.

“Many people may not be aware of the many great facilities and opportunities we have to offer in our towns,” she said.

“In other exciting news, the Community House will soon be contacting local businesses regarding their use of plastic bags and how we can work with them to become a plastic bag-free community.”

The Lorraine Lea Linen party fundraiser for Sam Scoble will be held at Rochester Community House on Thursday from 3pm to 6pm.

Anyone can visit the Community House and order something for Sam or place their own order with the host, with proceeds going to Sam.

The Community House will also work with VCAL students from Rochester Secondary College to host a free texting for seniors class on May 7.

The class will run from 11.30am to 12.30pm and registrations can be made by calling 5484 3600.
