CAMPASPE Shire Council’s Community Grants Program is now open.

CAMPASPE Shire Council’s Community Grants Program is now open.

The program offers funds to support local groups and organisations in the delivery of community projects and events.

Mayor Adrian Weston said grants were provided in two rounds each year with this round offering up to $110,000 to support applications.

“Council’s annual Community Grants Program recognises the efforts of community groups, clubs and other non-profit organisations by helping them to deliver projects, events and other activities that contribute to the wellbeing and quality of life for residents of Campaspe,” he said.

“The grant program sees a vast array of projects and events delivered across our shire each year from environmental initiatives, cultural exhibitions, community events and everything in between.”

Round one funding categories and allocations are:

■Community support grants - This category supports the delivery of programs, projects and activities that benefit the residents of the shire with amounts available up to $4000.

■Event grants - These grants aim to encourage and assist with community groups hosting local events. The maximum grants available are $1000 for a community event, $3000 for a minor event and $5000 for a major event.

“I encourage community groups to plan their grant application early,” Cr Weston said.

“Read the guidelines, plan your project, and importantly speak with a council officer listed in the guidelines about your application to ensure it meets the guidelines to give it every chance of success.”

Applications close Friday, April 13 and application forms and guidelines can be downloaded from council’s website or are available in hard copy from all customer service centres.

Following assessment of applications those recommended for approval will be considered at the June council meeting.

Funds will be presented to successful groups in July 2018.
