CALLING all a’cappella addicts.
Local singing group Bella A’Cappella is making a shout out to past members in the lead-up to the group’s 25th anniversary.
And whether it’s been two years or 20 since you last sang with Bella, the group wants you to come along and celebrate the milestone.
It’s estimated the group has had more than 100 members in its 25 years who have travelled from Echuca-Moama, Rochester, Kyabram and beyond to sing with the close-knit ensemble.
While it’s tough to pinpoint the exact birth date of the group, Bella A’Cappella – meaning ‘beautiful sound’ – was given its name in 1997.
Bella is still making beautiful sounds, captivating audiences across the region. So it’s no surprise the group’s birthday celebrations will also be filled with music.
“We’ll have three of the group’s ex-leaders coming on the day,” Bella’s Marg McMullane said.
“We’re going to get each ex-leader to go through one of the songs we used to sing with the group.”
People are encouraged to bring past songs for the group to revisit.
“One of our ex-leaders, Kim Swan, can’t come,” Marg said. “She introduced a lot of African music to the group, with drumming and clapping and stamping. But we’re sure someone else will bring some of these African songs along.”
The group is also asking people to send in as many Bella photos as possible. Photos can be emailed to [email protected]. The 25th birthday celebrations will be held at The Mill Echuca on Saturday, April 21 from 12.30pm.
RSVP to Marg on 0458 916 910 by Friday, March 28.
