ROCHESTER will have a new elected councillor after a change to council’s electoral boundary structure.

Rochester has been represented by Cr Murray McDonald since the formation of the Campaspe Shire, but under a restructure Cr McDonald will no longer be a resident of Rochester ward.

A Nanneella resident, Cr McDonald will fall within the Kyabram-Deakin ward.

While the restructure will see an extra two councillors, it will also see a reduction in the number of wards from six to five.

The adjusted Rochester ward will take in part of the existing Central and Waranga Wards.

DEREK Hartley and his camel Ginda have become a familiar sight on district roads.

They are training for a historic trek from Ayers Rock to the Gold Coast as part of the bicentenary celebrations.

The 3200km journey is expected to take three months, crossing some of Australia’s most inhospitable country.

Derek has been training Ginda for a few months and they cover up to 50km a day around local roads.
