MEMBER for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp has written to the ANZ Bank about the recent announcement the Rochester branch will close.
The branch is expected to shut its doors in April but Mr Gepp is seeking an explanation.
‘‘I am asking why an organisation that has been in Rochester for over a 100 years and has made in excess of $19 billion profits in the last three years is closing its doors,’’ Mr Gepp said.
“It does seem unusual that such a highly profitable business would need to be sacking workers and reducing services to Rochester residents. I look forward to meeting with the bank and gaining an understanding of their rationale.
‘‘Rochester residents are invited to contact my office on 5427 2444 and share their stories on the effect the ANZ decision will have on them.’’
