TOMORROW’S the day.
The last workers will walk out of Rochester’s Murray Goulburn plant for the final time.
It comes after production ceased on January 24 and the closure on January 31.
Ten workers have remained at the site, completing the decommissioning and remediation process.
It’s the last step for the plant, although a caretaker will look after it indefinitely.
However, according to MG, the company will continue to have a strong presence in Rochester supporting dairy suppliers in the region, with about 35 staff employed in the inbound logistics milk collection operations, MG Trading store and field services team.
MG chief executive Ari Mervis said: “We thank our Rochester employees for their significant contribution to MG’’.
‘‘The decision to close the Rochester site was difficult to make, however a necessary step on the journey to ensure the competitiveness of MG,” he said.
