POLICE were surprised on January 15 when a 20-year-old male walked into the police station.
Leading Senior Constable Simon Pearson of Rochester police said the man — who had recently moved to the town — presented with unusual behaviour.
‘‘He was found to have a knife in his pants pocket with a blade of approximately 45cm,’’ Leading Senior Constable Pearson said.
‘‘He was subsequently arrested and sent to the psych ward for assessment and later released.’’
The man was charged with possessing a controlled weapon and is awaiting a court date.
