THE Rochester Carers Support Group would like to start a support group for the local and surrounding district at the Rochester Community House.
The group would aim to provide information, peer support and recreational opportunities for local carers with monthly meetings.
Carers are people who provide unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue or who are frail aged.
Carers come from all backgrounds and range from the very young to the elderly.
Many people fall into the role of a carer.
They often see it as an extension of the responsibility when a person they care for becomes unwell.
Carers do not necessarily have to live with the person they care for.
If this sounds like you and you are interested in joining the group, please provide your expression of interest by contacting Amanda at Rochester Community House on 5484 3600 by February 12, 2018.
