Your chance to say what makes Rochester great: Project will shape town’s future

December 12, 2017

ROCHESTER residents are invited to be a part of an exciting new project that will develop and set out the future direction of the town.

Campaspe Shire mayor Adrian Weston said the first step of the project will start this Saturday with staff and councillors at the Rochester Community Market.

‘‘The community will be asked to think about ‘What makes Rochester great?’ and to contribute their ideas and suggestions,’’ Cr Weston said.

‘‘Comments will be captured and fed into an overall community and economic development plan which will identify key focus areas and actions of Rochester.’’

A stand will be set up at the market with staff and councillors chatting to residents about the project, handing out postcards to capture comment, as well as offering some great giveaways for ideas submitted.

The community and economic development plan will prepare the Rochester community for future economic and environmental challenges and will consider:

■Critical infrastructure works to support economic development

■Social engagement strategies to re-energise the community and build resilience

■Education and training needs to enhance the Rochester community’s capacity to evolve in a charging industry or employment environment.

■A marketing plan for Rochester, which includes a town brand

■Identified short, medium and long-term priorities to achieve the outcomes

Residents not able to participate through the market day event can still provide input through the postcards at the Rochester Customer Service Centre.
