THE Rochester Pool will be open for extended hours.
Campaspe Shire’s regulatory and community services general manager, Paul McKenzie, said the standard operating hours at the pool have not changed, however the operating model provides some flexibility to extend the closing time to 8pm when temperatures and attendance justify it.
‘‘This has been activated a number of times already this season,’’ he said.
The operating model also provides some flexibility around school and community group use, via a booking process.
‘‘Where exclusive use is not required by the group, the pool is made available to the public and users need only pay regular entry or present their season ticket,’’ he said.
‘‘Currently at Rochester there is a lap swimming group on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 8am and 9am (a one-hour extension).’’
This group also utilised the pool last year with a good response and sees an extension of one hour to these morning sessions when attendance justifies.
If attendances wane this will cease.
‘‘This operating model allows council to respond to community demand without making permanent extensions to hours at significant cost,’’ he said.
‘‘The cost of these additional hours is offset by income received and the flexibility to close when weather and/or low attendances allow.’’
