SHANE Wolfe took the victory in this week’s Monday niners with a string score (49-131/2-351/2).

There was a tussle between Kevin McCormack (46-9-37)and Tony Murray (43-6-37) for the runners up position, with Kevin claiming the honours on a countback.

Kevin also claimed the NTP second shot on the 7th hole.

Ray Peake took the straightest drive 9th and John Oakley continues with his great putting (13).

Wednesday ladies played a stroke game on a fairly hot and humid day.

IAN Pollard and Spencer Broom proved what has been known for many years, that the course layout favours the left handed golfer especially over the short course.

The “lefties” in Pollard and Broom showed their class in taking out the 2 person Ambrose (27 ¾) event last Wednesday from Bill Dingwall and Laurie Jackel (30 ½).

Fellow leftie Trevor English won nearest the pin on the 8th.

Due to popular demand the 9 hole Wednesday morning competition will continue up until Christmas unless the predicted temperature is above 30.

Richard Feuk is the contact for any enquiries.

Any doubts about why the club moved out to Black Culvert over 30 years ago were dispelled, after receiving over 80ml of rain over the weekend the course was mowed on Monday showing how the sandy loam soil can take big rains and still be playable within 24 hours.

The natural couch grass combined with what was sown originally together with the humid conditions are producing some great cover for those wishing to play over the summer.

Bob Knight (39pts), Frank Severino and Bruce Bryant (38) and Steve Malley (NTP) were the best of the Rochester crew at Rich River last Tuesday.
