IT WAS a hot one on the grass this week in Elmore tennis but both the Peacocks and Herons were on fire with good wins to keep them up the top of the section one ladder.

Chloe Whitfield led her Peacocks to a comprehensive win over the Kookaburras, taking all sets for the day.

While the Herons had another good win against the Rosellas, the tennis was close all day, with each player contributing to a number of hard-fought rallies.

The final scores were Peacocks 6/36 d Kookaburras 0/15, Herons 5/35 def Rosellas 1/22.

In section two it was a battle for the top ladder spot between the Finches and Jays; the former coming out victors.

The Jays, who had just come off the bye, have been relegated to second spot due to the four-sets-to-two loss.

The Flamingos continued on their winning way with a two-set win over the Toucans.

Gayle Fitzgerald has found great form winning all her three sets convincingly, helping to secure a win for her side.

Wendy Sims also had an unbeaten day out for the Robins.

Sims won all of her sets and didn’t let her daughter Kellie have even one game when they encountered each other.

The Robins beat the Emus by five games.

The Pelicans had their full side in and bounced back after last weeks loss with a seven-game win over the Magpies.

The final scores were Pelicans 4/31 def Magpies 2/24, Flamingos 4/30 def Toucans 2/26, Finches 4/28 def Jays 2/19, Robins 4/29 def Emus 2/24.
