ELMORE Football and Netball Club will be kicking more goals and growing its ranks with $100,000 in funding from the state government.
The funding will be used to upgrade the oval lighting at the Recreation Reserve.
Having the lights upgraded to a minimum average of 100 lux across the ground means players of Elmore can get on the field when they want, day or night, and stay healthy and active.
Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan announced Elmore Football Netball Club was among 23 sports facilities across Victoria to share in more than $2 million from the latest round of the Country Football and Netball Program. The Minister said: ‘‘We’re proud to be investing $100,000 to upgrade the lighting of the oval at the Elmore Recreation Reserve — so our local players have access to the safe, modern facilities they truly deserve.’’
The successful application for the funding was submitted by the City of Greater Bendigo, which is contributing $207,000 to the project.
Mayor Margaret O’Rourke said the project is important and will result in the contruction of new lighting to meet AFL guidelines for a local level facility.
The project will also include significant power-supply upgrade works to meet current Australian standards.
The football netball club is contributing $32,000 towards the upgrade.
