A CFA captain is outraged after being called to another fire caused by a burn-off in the Bamawm area.
Four hectares of grassland, 72 hay bales and some private plantation were burnt in the blaze at Lowry Rd at Bamawm Extension this afternoon.
Tankers from Bamawm Extension, Kotta and Lockington were called to the blaze at 12.08pm where they spent a couple of hours putting it out.
Bamawm Extension captain George Calleja said this was the 11th fire the brigade had attended in the past two weeks.
‘‘It’s getting beyond a joke,’’ he said.
‘‘All I can say is thank god the restrictions are coming in on Friday.
‘‘Landowners need to be very vigilant. They don’t realise how dry it is and how easy a burn-off can get out of control.’’
Although the fire is now safe, there is still a large number of hay bales smoldering in the area.
‘‘The smoke will probably continue for a few days until it burns out,’’ Mr Calleja said.
