Week off for Niners

Due to the summer opening of the club, Monday Niners did not take the field this week.

On Wednesday, the women of the club invited the men to join them in their usual round.

Florrie Bickley (52-14-38) won the womens competition from Shirley McAsey (58-17-41).

A tricky NTP on the 5th was also claimed by Florrie.

Toni Bales had a lovely drive on the 3rd to claim the prize for the straightest drive, while evergreen Kath Newman won the putting for the day with 15 putts.

Kath also dropped a glorious 20+ foot putt as part of her round.

Russ Major was the best of the men on the day (53-13-40), just pipping Rod McAsey.

Russ also had the straightest drive 9th, but Rod took out the putting (18).

Both Men and Ladies are starting at new times, 8.30 amassembly for a 9am hit off.


Wednesday 9 hole events will now start at 9am with assembly from 8.30am, with both nines open the competition will alternate over the summer.

Bruce Bryant’s 25 points last Wednesday was the winner on a countback from Alex McQuibban.

Laurie Jackel was the nearest the pin winner.

Last night the club held their AGM, Ian Clarke was re-elected as President.

Ian was encouraged to welcome new faces on the Board and various sub committees and is looking forward in continuing to promote golf and improve the playing numbers at Rochester Golf Club over the next 12 months.
