Due to several committments by most of the women, the social bowls were cancelled on Tuesday.
Hopefully, all systems go this week with midweek pennant commencing on Friday.
Members travelled to Elmore Bowling Club on Sunday for the Open 2x4x2 pairs tournament.
Alan Kauffman and Tom Davis were the best performed winning all three games, but missed out on the points system.
Russell Shawcross and David Lupton won one and lost two by one shot; Ray Hanson and Graeme Turner had a similar outcome with one win and two losses, however in the final game Hanson and Turner were holding shot and trailing by six shots, when Turner produced a miraculous bowl to move the jack and pick up five shots to lose by one shot.
Jim Harris and former Lockington bowler Greg Clymo (now Rich River) managed one win.
It was great to see recent 90-year-old Stan Brain from Castlemaine still drawing the shot.
CVBD pennant competitions begin this week with the women tackling Elmore at home whilst in the weekend pennant the men challenge Rich River at home in division two and division four meets Moama at home in a replay of the past grand final which we won! Good luck to all bowlers for the 2017/2018 season.

There has been a change of date for the Annual Waterwheel Classic Fours.
The event will be held on Sunday, October 22 commencing at 9.30am. Contact Chris Stewart for entries. Early entries are encouraged.
This new date is to avoid a clash with the Northern Country Challenge (past Norm Knopp Shield) to be held at Moama Bowling Club on Sunday, October 29.

The club conducted the first practice/barbeque on Friday evening with a good attendance. An elated Annie Haines collected the members’ draw.
Yup, it’s finally here. Midweek pennant starts this Friday, October 6 and weekend pennant this Saturday, October 7.
Weekend teams were picked on Monday and there will be a sausage sizzle on tonight Tuesday, October 3 when the teams will be announced.
Thursday night training/practice will be conducted with everybody playing in the team they have been selected for.
The Ladies Championship Competition begins this week.
Entries for the Men’s ’C Grade’ must be in by Saturday 14th October, ’B Grade by the 21st October and ’A Grade’ by the 28th October.

17 players enjoyed the sunshine and endured the wind to play Ladies’ SocialBowls last Tuesday.
Winners were Muriel Stack, Elaine Hall and Judy Shotton.
The Chocolate Raffle was won by Marg Harley.
Rochester sent teams to Deniliquin RSL Star event.
The finals of the State CVBD 60 and Over singles were played at the City of Echuca on Friday.
What began as ideal conditions slowly turned into an overcast day with very cold winds getting stronger.
The greens were in first class condition which encouraged some fine draw bowling.
The semi finals resulted in Vern Rehe beating Trevor Nagorcka and Stan Barker beating Tim Noar.
The final developed into an epic battle, the lead changing nine times.
The draw bowling in the conditions was a highlight, with neither player gaining supremacy.
On the 24th end Stan gained a three to defeat Vern 21-18, and will now represent the CVBD at regional level.
