POLICE are appealing for information into a burglary at a Lockington property where a firearm was stolen.
Echuca detectives are investigating the incident which saw thieves steal a Boito shotgun by forcing open a safe in the shed of an O’Brien Rd property between 7am last Thursday and 2pm on Sunday.
Detective Sergeant Brendon Murphy said he believed it was a targeted attack as the shotgun was the only item stolen.
‘‘Nothing else was disturbed and for that to be taken on a remote rural property, it would appear it was targeted,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s really concerning because of the type of item stolen as we don’t want it in the wrong hands.’’
Police are now appealing to the public for help in catching the offender and finding the shotgun.
‘‘Anyone with information about who may have taken the shotgun or its whereabouts now, we would be interested in hearing from them,’’ Det. Sgt Murphy said.
People can contact Echuca police on 54831500 or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
