A man has died when his 4x4 Toyota Hilux collided with a light rigid truck this afternoon at Goornong.
A man from Stewarton, who was driving the truck, has been flown to hospital with serious injuries after being stuck in the vehicle for over an hour.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash which occurred around 1.45pm on the Midland Highway.
Investigators believe the driver of the south-bound car veered across the highway and collided with the north-bound truck.
The male driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene.
This is the second crash on the same stretch of road this year after a woman was airlifted to Melbourne hospital after black Kia Rio veered on to the wrong side of the road and collided with a truck.
