THERE is a fresh new look to Rochester Fresh Flowers.

The Mackay St business is under new management.

Rochester resident of 18 years Melanie McClurie took over Rochester Fresh Flowers three weeks ago and has big things in store.

‘‘We are planning on re-vamping the store and bringing in some clothing lines and new gifts.’’

Melanie used to sell flowers from her other business, the local laundry mat, before taking over the Mackay Street store.

Melanie and her team created the flower arrangements, favouring mostly Australian natives, for the Rochester Mural Festival Opening Dinner table centre pieces and also a large display to be shown off near the murals.

‘‘Special thanks to Lisa Shawcross and Monika Lauckow for helping with the Mural Festival arrangements.’’

A hairdresser earlier in her career, Melanie can’t pinpoint her favourite flower but highlighted tulips and rose lilies.

‘‘I just love flowers, I love the creative side of it all whether it be styling hair or flowers.’’

‘‘We have a new plan to have our foliage in the store so people can choose a pre-made bouquet or depending on their budget can choose what they want in it’.’

The store to be renamed ‘‘Blooms and Threads’’ will keep the same number and stock clothing brands like Rip Curl, Elm Lifestyle Clothing, Humidity Lifestyle Clothing and Walnut Canvas shoes.
